Autopsy out; Peoples says tapes will help

“We’re going to find out what really happened versus what they’re contending happened.” -- Bruce Peoples

An 18-year-old Indian youth was shot seven times at his home west of Clinton on Dec. 21, 2013, an autopsy from the state medical examiner’s office shows.

Mah-hi-vist Goodblanket was pronounced dead by a state medical examiner at the scene in the Canyons West housing addition.

Two Custer County sheriff’s deputies shot Goodblanket, reportedly after two attempts to Taser him failed to stop him.

The shooters, Chance Avery and Dillon Mach, had responded to a 911 call from the victim’s family reportedly seeking help because he was assaulting occupants at the house – including his girlfriend – and kicking doors and windows.
