Chevy Peeke, an employee of Southwest Wrecking in Cordell, ties down loose pieces of a Burns Flat police car in which one officer died Thursday. The car was a late-model Dodge Charger which an OHP trooper said should yield lots of data for investigators. The Charger was involved in a collision with this sport utility vehicle driven by the Washita County undersheriff. He too died, as did a suspect he and the policeman were chasing who wrecked his own vehicle three miles away.Workers were still busy late Thursday trying to pull out the vehicle a suspect was killed in while fleeing from lawmen trying to serve him with a felony arrest warrant. A deep ravine lies beyond the wrecker. Two lawmen, the Washita County undersheriff and a Burns Flat policeman, died in a separate crash three miles away.

2 lawmen, fugitive die in chase

Two Washita County law enforcement officers and a suspect they were pursuing died in two separate automobile crashes three miles apart late Thursday morning south and southeast of Dill City.
Names of the victims were not immediately released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, which is investigating.
Lt. Brian Orr, spokesperson for OHP, said one of the lawmen was the Washita County undersheriff and the other was a Burns Flat policeman. They were driving separate vehicles which collided at the intersection of County Roads 2160 and 1210 just south of town.
