150 from Clinton attend school rally
More than 150 Clinton representatives made the trek to the State Capitol in Oklahoma City for the education rally Monday. Clinton Supt. Kevin Hime said reports were that some 30,000 were on the south lawn of the capitol complex for the affair in what he figures must have been one of the largest such gatherings ever. “It was an amazing event,” he said.
Asked how many of those 150 from Clinton were parents, Hime said it’s difficult to say, since most teachers are also parents.
Hime said the sheer size of the group shocked many of those at the capitol, especially since the larger metropolitan schools had only token groups there. The vast majority of those attending, the Clinton superintendent said, came from small school systems in every corner of the state.
