Arapaho couple marks 50 years

Ralph and Lettie Roll of Arapaho will be given a reception hosted by their children to honor their 50 years of marriage from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Church of God.The couple married Sept. 22, 1957, at the First Church of God. The couple raised its family on the Roll Farm northwest of Arapaho. Ralph farmed with his father, Bill Roll, and also served in the U.S. Air Force. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Lettie obtained a nursing degree and helped with the farm. Their children are Steve and Melanie Black of Edmond, Mark and Melissa Roll of Arapaho, John and Melissa Moss of Yukon. Grandchildren include Jared and Beth Black of Edmond, Travis and Sarah Black of Yukon, Taylor Black of Edmond, Josh and Amanda Roll of Arapaho, Jessica Burch and Nickie and John Moss of Yukon. Great grandchildren are Dax Black of Edmond and Avayah Black of Yukon. The family requests no gifts please and only the attendance of friends and family.
Christy, Sikes exchange vows

Julie Christy and Troy Sikes, both of Clinton, were united in marriage Oct. 5, 2007, at Wheeler, Texas.The bride is the daughter of Teddy and Kaye Christy of Bethany. The groom is the son of Terry and Cheryl Sikes of Clinton. The couple was honored with a reception Oct. 5 at the United Methodist Health Care Center. The couple honeymooned in San Antonio, Texas, and have made Clinton their home. She is a graduate of Bethany High School. He is a graduate of Clinton High School. Both are employed by the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton.

Baccus, Foote marry April 27

Rachel Foote of Bethany and Jacob Baccus of Clinton were united in marriage April 27, 2007, in a ceremony at the Memorial Road Mennonite Brethren Church in Edmond.The bride is the daughter of Howard and Mary Foote of Bethany. The groom is the son of Rodney and Norma Baccus of Clinton. Rev. Bill Black of Gatlinburg, Tenn., conducted the services. The central aisle was decorated with swags of ivory tulle and was accented with mini lights and satin bows. The focal point on stage was an arch decorated with wisteria, greenery and coral roses. Other decorations included pots of coral roses, metal columns decorated with ivy, mini lights and small coral roses, topped with ivory candles in hurricane globes. The reception area was decorated with ivory and chocolate brown tablecloths, ivory candles, coral tulle and coral roses. Sharon Toews of Hesston, Kan., played piano and special vocalists were Elise Hiebert of Hillsboro, Kan., and Landon Tucker of Virginia Beach, Va. Special music included “Jacob’s Song,” with words and music written by the bride. Other songs were “Miracle of You,” “Love Songs” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a gown with a scoop neckline, fitted bodice and chapel-length train, made of ivory satin, with embroidery and beaded detail. The chapel-length veil had similar beaded detail as of that on the gown. She carried a bouquet of coral, ivory and peach roses tied with ivory ribbon. The maid of honor was Dr. Elizabeth Foote, sister-in-law of the bride, of Oklahoma City. She wore a sleeveless fitted tea-length gown of chocolate brown satin with coral stain ruffles and belt. She carried a bouquet of coral roses tied with coral and chocolate brown ribbon. Bridesmaids were Angilla Baccus, sister of the groom, of Clinton and Arianna Rivera, friend of the bride, of Yukon. Angilla’s gown was tea-length with spaghetti straps and was made of chocolate brown satin with a coral satin shoulder wrap. She carried a bouquet of peach roses tied with coral and chocolate brown ribbons. Arianna’s gown was tea-length with a scoop neck and v-shaped hemline insert of coral stain. She carried ivory roses tied with coral and chocolate brown ribbons. The groom wore a chocolate brown tux with ivory vest and boutonniere. Best man was Geary Baccus of Clinton. Groomsmen were Dr. Andrew Foote, bother of the bride, of Oklahoma City and Daniel Foote, brother of the bride, of Bethany. Ushers were Bennett Brown, Bethany; Keith Peters, Corn; and Roman Hofer, Hillsboro, Kan. A reception followed the ceremony in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Reception assistants were Jen Hope, Amy Rouse, Ashley Siler and Kayla Vix, all of Hillsboro and Jill Crawford of Edmond. Guestbook attendant was Ashlinn Sarani of Edmond. The couple honeymooned in Jamaica and lived this summer in Gatlinburg, Tenn., where they served with A Christian Ministry in National Parks. They now live in Richmond, Va., where they both are students at Baptist Theological Seminary. She is a graduate of Corn Bible Academy and Tabor College. He is a graduate of Arapaho High School and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Clark couple marks 60th anniversary

Eldon and Irene Clark celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children May 19 at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso, N.M. He is the son of Manford Clark and Katie (Hanavan) Clark and she is the daughter of Lex Klein and Katie (Kreizenbeck) Klein. The couple met at Arapaho High School in 1943 and was married May 28, 1947, in Clinton. Irene worked at First National Bank in Clinton until moving to Carlsbad in 1949. She worked with her husband and brothers at Klein’s Dairy from 1963-1969. In 1970, she became the catalog supervisor at J.C. Penney’s, a job she held until she retired in 1987. Eldon’s first job after getting married was at Strange-Jones Hardware in Clinton. After moving to Carlsbad in 1949, Eldon was employed by International Minerals and Chemical Corporation (IMCC) from 1951-1962. He worked at AMAX from 1962-64. In 1964, he began working with Klein’s Dairy and then Prices Dairy as a retail milk distributor and remained there until 1969. He finished his career working at National Potash and Kerr McGee before retiring in 1987. The couple have five children, Larry Clark and his wife, Marcia, of Alamogordo, N.M.; Phyllis Adams, and her late husband, Joe, of Artesia, N.M.; Susan Crowley, and her husband, Terry, of Amarillo, Texas; Pam Haley and her husband, Mike, of Round Rock, Texas; and Emily Reay and her husband, Scott, of Peoria, Ariz. The couple has 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Don Deimunds 50th wedding fete August 16

Don and Mildred Deimund of Clinton will be honored for 50 years of marriage by their children, grandchildren and friends from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Arapaho Community Center.The couple married Aug. 16, 1957, by Rev. Alvis Merrill at the Broadway Heights Baptist Church in Clinton. He is the son of the late Walter and Opal Deimund of Evansville, Ill., and she is the daughter of the late John and Nellie Brehm of Clinton. The couple traveled to many states and countries while he was in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1976 and she worked many years for S&D Drug Store and the S&H Green Stamp Store. They are active in the American Legion and Auxiliary, the Hub City Square Dance Club and are members of the Arapaho First Baptist Church. The couple has three children, Richard and his wife, Marca Deimund, of Cimarron, Kan., Mike Deimund of Weatherford, and Tim and his wife, Brenda Deimund, of Oklahoma City. They also have seven grandchildren, Jeremy and his wife, Christina, of Flint, Texas, Aaron of Topeka, Kansas, and Mark, Matthew, Jared, Connor and Brette Deimund, all of Oklahoma City. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend and the couple is requesting there be no gifts brought.
Rayner couple marks 50 years

Russell and Leta Bell Rayner of Clinton will be honored for 50 years of marriage by their children, grandchildren and friends from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Clinton Free Will Baptist Church.Russell Rayner and Leta Bell Cantrell were married Aug. 18, 1957, at the Prairie Bell Free Will Baptist Church in Putnam. Rev. J.W. Fast performed the ceremony. He graduated from Arapaho High School and spent two years in the U.S. Army and 15 months in Korea. She graduated from Putnam High School and Corn Bible Academy. Russell spent two years in the grocery business before working for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years, retiring in 1990. He also was the manager of the Westhoma Federal Credit Union for eight years. Leta Bell worked 30 years for McLellan’s, TG&Y and Kmart and she retired Jan. 2, 1998. They are both active in the Free Will Baptist Church and he serves as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School superintendent. The couple has three children, Marca Deimund and her husband, Richard, Wesley Rayner and his wife, Karen, and Troy Rayner and his wife, Traci. There are seven grandchildren, Jeremy Deimund and his wife, Christina, Aaron Deimund, Ryan Wilcoxon and her husband, Brandon, Derek Rayner, Alyssa Rayner, Tatum Rayner and Taysha Rayner. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend and the couple is requesting there be no gifts brought, but cards and letters are encouraged.
Denton, Brown exchange vows

Tara Rose Denton of Eldorado, and Ryan Dietrich Brown of Corn were united in marriage May 26, 2007, in an outdoor ceremony at the home of Rick Holder, seven miles east of Eldorado in far southwestern Oklahoma.Officiating was Bill David Walker, Tipton, former pastor of the bride. Assisting was Levi Brubaker, pastor of Word of Life Mennonite Fellowship, Lititz, Pa., friend of the bridegroom. The bride is the daughter of Terry and Jana Denton, Eldorado. She is the granddaughter of Bob and Rita Denton George, Eldorado, Billy Ray Denton, Quanah, Texas, and the late Dale and Nadine Bryant. Parents of the bridegroom are Ray and M.G. Brown, Bessie. His grandparents are Ben and Elizabeth Brown, Corn; and Emma Rose Moore, Vinita and the late Dan Moore. Wedding vows were recited before a bower crafted from black locust saplings and enhanced with multi-colored flowers and greenery. Similarly fashioned were an entry arbor and numerous posts on plow disk bases. Three of the posts held candles under the bower while others, joined by white tulle swags, defined the setting perimeter. All were creations of wedding designer Tammy Combs, Duke. Violinist Natalie Webb, Custer City, and keyboardist Mindy Evetts, Weatherford, together played classical and traditional wedding selections. Pachelbel's "Canon in D" was used as the processional. Lindsey Abernathy, Altus, sang "From This Moment" during lighting of the unity candle. Escorted by her father, the bride was dressed in a strapless white gown with beaded sweetheart neckline, taffeta pick-up skirt, and chapel-length train. Her finger-tip-length veil of silk illusion fell from a circlet of beaded pearls. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of bright orange, pink, and yellow roses and gerbera daisies with berries and stock. Maid of honor was Vanessa Jones, Weatherford. Bridesmaids were Brooke Zorger, Duke; Deanna Hughes, Mustang; Dr. Melanie Brown Denton, Eldorado, sister of the bridegroom; and Kyla Garza, Lawton, cousin of the bride. All wore strapless short dresses of crinkle chiffon in cornflower blue. Their flowers were smaller versions of the bride's. Flower girls were Emma Thompson and Jaci Bryant, both of Altus. Bell ringers were Cade Denton, Rowlett, Texas, and Hogan Hall, Duke. All four are cousins of the bride. The bridegroom wore a traditional black tuxedo with white shirt and tie. Steven Brown, Reinholds, Pa., served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Grant Brown, Edmond, another brother of the bridegroom; Chad Horn, Cordell; and Brandon Denton, Eldorado and Sean Denton, Clinton, brothers of the bride. Similarly attired to the bridegroom, the attendants wore blue ties. Ushers were Brady Bryant, cousin of the bride, and Jackie Hamersley, both of Eldorado; and Jarod Johns, Duke. Offering lemonade or water to arriving guests were refreshment attendants Alyssa Thompson, Altus, and Hunter Hall, Duke, cousins of the bride. A catered reception followed the ceremony at Rio Rojo Outfitters hunting lodge, a short distance south of the wedding site. Reception assistants were Ashley Henderson, Lawton; Kerri Horschler, Martha; Lauren Turner, Duke; and Jeree Brown, Edmond and Jessica Brown, Reinholds, Pa., sisters-in-law of the bridegroom. The couple left the reception in a shower of rose petals and honeymooned on a Caribbean cruise. They are making their home in Weatherford where the bride is a health sciences student at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The bridegroom is a contract hauler for Shawnee Milling Company, Shawnee.

Lumpkin couple marry in Lookeba

Mark Lumpkin, formerly of Clinton, and Jan Evans of Binger were united in marriage April 20, 2007, in a 1950’s style wedding ceremony at the New Covenant Church in Lookeba.The couple was joined by their children, Mark, Brianna, Mariah, Ashleigh, Holli and Mike and also their grandchildren, Hannah, Spencer and Josie, as they vowed to blend together as one family. Following a brief reception the couple left in the bride’s ’55 Chevy and made their honeymoon in Medicine Park. The groom is the son of Osa and the late JD Lumpkin and the bride is the daughter of Howard and the late Loretta Evans of Binger. The couple will make their home in the Lookeba-Hinton area where she serves as Postmaster and he works for the Washita County Construction Division.

Simon, Hybl exchange vows

Stephanie Saffa Simon and Nathen Thomas Hybl, both of Atlanta, Ga., were united in marriage April 28, 2007, in a ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City.The bride is the daughter of Dr. Floyd and Susie Simon of Clinton and the groom is the son of Mr. Thomas and Cheryl Hybl of Atlanta. Pastor Matt Meinke officiated the ceremony. John Edwards and the Oklahoma Strings provided music for the ceremony and performed selections by Ludlows-Horner. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a re-embroidered ivory Alencon lace dress by Monique Lhuiller of California. She carried a solid white bridal bouquet of mixed flowers. Shelbi S. Simon of Austin, Texas, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Caton Hill, Oklahoma City; Lindsey Nashert Holleyman, Edmond; Rebecca Hybl, Athens, Ga.; Kelsey Jennings, Oklahoma City; and Stephanie Rodolph Malone, Moore. The flower girls were Glenda Kate Dowdell and Emma Lee Dowdell, both of Clinton. The best man was Ryan Kennedy Hybl of Athens. The groomsmen were Jonathan Elder, New York City; Chelsy McLeod, Atlanta; Floyd Simon III, Norman; Clinton Simon, Norman; Trent Smith, Yukon; and Andrew Wilkes, Savannah, Ga. Ushers were Vince Harrison, Hilton Head, N.C.; Jon Hillman, Farmers Brach, Texas; Kyle Roberts, Savannah; and J.D. Tyler, Columbia, Mo. A reception followed the wedding at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City. The couple honeymooned on in Anguilla of the British West Indies. The bride is a graduate of Clinton High School, the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma University Law School. She is employed by Troutman Sanders LLP in Atlanta. The groom is a graduate of Hazlehurst High School, attended Georgia University and graduated from OU. He is a partner in iHome Technology in Atlanta.
Nance couple marks 50 years

Kenneth and Wanda (Kauk) Nance will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 14-18 with a trip through the state of New Mexico.The couple married June 15, 1957, at the home of the bride located northwest of Butler. They have lived in Clinton throughout their marriage. He is retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years and she retired from Ching-yi Chen, M.D., after 20 years of service. The couple has three children, Debbie Nance of Amarillo, Texas, Kim Nance of Dallas, Texas, and Randy Nance of Oklahoma City and who will be joining them on their trip. The couple also has a grandson, Colin Nance, who is attending school in Florida working toward a degree in recording arts.
Beck couple will be honored

Kenneth and Jane (Reimer) Beck marked 50 years of marriage on April 10 and will be given a reception from 2-4 p.m. June 24 at the First Mennonite Church in Clinton.The couple married April 10, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was an auto parts salesman and she was in charge of the school lunch program for Clinton Public Schools. They are members of the First Mennonite Church in Clinton. The couple has two children, Arlene Buller of Battle Ground, Wash., and Mike Beck of Norman. They also have three grandchildren, Drew, Marissa and Adriana.

Parkers celebrate 40th anniversary

Johnny and Jan Parker of Butler will mark 40 years of marriage Jan. 21.The couple married Jan. 21, 1967 at the First Baptist Church in Butler. He received a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1968 and she completed a course at Peggy’s Beauty College in 1967. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Michigan for five years, the couple moved to Granite where he began teaching. They moved back to Butler in 1976 and he taught six years before working for the Washita Wildlife Refuge where he continues to work. She owned and operated a salon in Butler for 28 years and has also been employed at Dr. Gladd’s in Elk City since 1990. The Parkers were raised on farms near Butler and continue to enjoy farming and ranching. They have three children, Justin Parker and wife Melissa of Newkirk, Jenae Rippetoe and husband Chad of Carter, Jara Sealy and husband Jeff of Elk City. The couple also has six grandchildren including Cullen, Bryson and Peyton Parker, Jancy Rippetoe and Tierra and Sydnee Sealey.
