Sight gags big part of ‘Brides’ laughs

Hats off to James Rainwater of Thomas, who, several weeks into rehearsals, took over the lead role of Adam Pontipee in “Seven Brides for Seven Bro-thers” and overcame a lot of dialogue and tough song lyrics to make the role his own.
His love interest in the show is local stage veteran Melissa McSpadden of Weatherford as Milly Bradon.
McSpadden pours so much emotion and energy into whatever she does onstage, and her role in this show is no different. With her, every song is a story.
McSpadden and Rainwater are particularly stunning in the love song “Love Never Goes Away,” particularly as they perform it in trio with one of the younger brothers, Morgan Walkup of Thomas as Gideon.
