When a tornado hits, don’t be standing outside the cellar door watching it.

Those sage words of advice came this week from two different sources as this area’s prime tornado season approached.

Entrepreneur and soccer enthusiast Juan Martinez got the go-ahead Tuesday from the Clinton Planning and Zoning Board to proceed with his planned $450,000 indoor soccer arena. However, the City Council still has to give its assent as well.

It’s extremely unusual when far western areas of the state get more than other parts, but the Oklahoma Mesonet was reporting 4.04 inches of rain fell at Cheyenne Sunday and Monday, the highest total in this area.

Clinton High School Legal Teams have kicked off their season with scrimmages against other schools, teacher coach Kathy Kelley said.
