Landon Dixson, youth minister at Clinton’s Church of Christ since Jan. 3 of this year, didn’t come to the ministry the usual way. From the time he was 8 years old, he said, his life centered around his dream of becoming a professional bass fisher. But during his last year of college, Dixson heard the call to become a fisher of men instead.

In a few weeks, power outages hopefully will be a thing of the past at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Clinton.

Costly cattle

Clinton Livestock Auction owner Blake Berry estimates there are 30 to 40 percent fewer cattle than there were three years ago in this extended and continuing drought.

After, by his own estimation, 41 years, one month and one week in the pulpit of the First Church of God, Roy Dobbs told his Church Council and congregation Sunday that he is retiring.
